Notes & Instructions Wing Needle Embroidery Designs (Two Sizes) This design is a combination of several techniques used in the PEDesignPalette Personal Embroidery Software. It was created using the circle drawing tool in Layout & Editing. The border is an outline zigzag stitch and the fill is a motif I created specifically for the wing needle embroidery. The center flower is a TrueType Font that has been edited and maniplated to produce smooth stitches and tapered lines. Classes are available on this technique. Wing Needle designs are most attractive sewn in one color only for a tone-on-tone effect. The color stops are simply indicators to remind the stitcher to change needles. The first color is to be embroidered with a Size 16 Wing Needle. Then change to a regular size 11 or 12 machine embroidery needle. Spray the fabric with starch and press till crisp before marking the embroidery position. Hoop the fabric in the appropriate size hoop and use water soluble stabilizer if desired for the wing needle stitching. Lightweight tearaway stabilizer should be floated under the hoop after the needle is changed. This will help support the satin or fill stitches of the remainder of the design. Carefully remove the stabilizer(s) when the stitching is completed. Wing Needle Designs are lovely when sewn on natural fiber fabrics such as linen or cotton. Suggested embroidery projects include linen guest towels, sheets, pillowcases, tablecloths, table runners, napkins, dresses, blouses, etc. Do not attempt to use the machines needle threader with a wing needle. Damage to the machine can result. These design can be sewn on articles for sale. Please do not share or redistribute these designs without express permission from me.
