Notes & Instructions Candy Cane Pencil Toppers Instructions: Hoop felt. Use white (preferred) or red. If you use red felt, stitch with white thread instead of red. I use a layer of tear-away, buy others use no stabilizer and like the results. For the part with colour not defined, choose which colour you wish to use for the outline. I like a green outline, but a metallic gold can look extra nice. Dark red, or black, or dark green would also look good. When you get to the step that says, applique, keep the outline colour thread in the machine. Leave the felt in the hoop, and slip another piece of felt (same colour, usually) under the hoop. I use a little spray-on temporary adhesive to hold it in place. Continue stitching in the same colour you chose for the outline.. You dont have to use the colours Ive given, of course. Cut out your candy cane. Stick it on a pencil. You could also put it on a real candy cane, but wouldnt that look a little funny
