Step 1:

Hoop white fabric (no backing).

Step 2:

Each design consists of three or four parts: Outline, Fill, Border and Complete Design. Stitch the fill design and remove from hoop. Hoop another piece of fabric and stitch a mirror image of the fill design. (If the ornament has no decorative fill, you will just stitch the outline here.)

Step 3:

Cut out both pieces of the design, cutting as close as possible to the outline.

Step 4:

Notice that the two parts of the ornament are a mirror image of each other. That is a very important step in the project!

Step 5:

Hoop several layers of tear-away backing. (I used four because I wanted my ornaments to have stiff body.) Stitch the outline design. Remove from the machine, but do not remove from hoop!

Step 6:

Apply spray adhesive to the wrong side of the ornament cut-outs.

Step 7:

Match both pieces of the ornament to the outline, one on the front side of the hoop and the other on the back side of the hoop.

Step 8:

Once again, bring the project to the machine and stitch the border portion of the design.

Step 9:

Tear away the ornament away from the excess backing. It should be very easy to remove and will pop out clean and ready to hang.

Step 10:

Apply an ornament hanger, slipping it through several threads at the top of the ornament. Hang and enjoy!

Step 11:

There are many different symbols that can be made into ornaments. You can choose those that have the most meaning to you or create them all. The ornaments have two sizes. The large size (approximately 6") is great if you have a large tree. The smaller size (3 to 3.5") works well for smaller trees. The Christ Monograms were pictured at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, Minnesota.
