Quilt with Australian Wildflowers Embroidery Project

Preface:
Always try to match your craft foam to your thread. It doesn’t have to be an exact match, but sometimes the craft foam will show through the threads. #30 weight threads are best because it will give better coverage.

Step 1:
First, hoop your stabilizer and your material. For demonstration purposes, I have chosen to glue the material to the stabilizer with a child's school glue stick.

Step 2:
Stitch out the design areas that are NOT puffy. In this Design Set, Australian Wildflowers, the green swirls or Color #1 is stitched out first. Lay down a piece of craft foam on TOP of the design as show above and stitch out the remaining design. DO NOT remove the craft foam until all areas using craft foam are stitched out.

Step 3:
Remove the design from the hoop. The needle will puncture the foam and cut it. Remove the extra foam by gently pulling it “towards” the design and not away from it. This is the same method as when you remove any tear away stabilizer. For tiny spots, you may need to pull them out with tweezers.
