Materials
  • Felt or similar fabric
  • Tear-away stabilizer
  • Thread

  • Designs used in this project

    Step 1:
feltbanksdbs001 - This is the worm for the apple

Color 1: Green outline for worm placement.
    Color 2: Green Satin Stitch.
    Color 3: White Eyes.
Color 4: Black or Dark green for eye pupils and mouth.

Remove from hoop and trim around worm.

    Step 2:
    feltbankdbs002 - Apple Bank

Bobbin Thread should match felt. Note: due to some machines not following the Stop Commands, I have inserted color changes. Do not change colors, unless instructed, these are in place instead of the stop command.

    Step 3:
Color 1: Outline stitch - should be done in same color as felt.
Color 2: Apple - following changes should all be RED or Color of Apple. Running stitch and then satin stitch detail on top of apple. Zig zag stitch around coin opening.
Color 3: Stop Command carefully cut out inside of coin slot, remove stabilizer inside slot.
Satin stitch around top and sides of coin slot.

    Step 4:
Color 4: Stop command- Insert bottom of worm into the coin slot stitch running tack down stitch.
Color 5: Stop Command make sure worm is in a good postition. Satin stitch bottom line of coin slot. This will secure the worm to the slot.

    Step 5:
Fold worm over and pin down. This is to make sure he isn’t caught in final stitching. Remove hoop from machine and turn over. Place a piece of matching felt on the back side of the hoop and secure so that it doesn’t move. Return hoop to machine.
    Color 6: Brown Stem
Color 7: Red or color of apple. Stitch final satin outline stitch.

    Step 6:
Remove from hoop, and trim around apple. Unpin the worm. At this time you can glue small pieces of Velcro to the back of the worm and apple to make the worm a tab to keep contents in place.
