Quick & Simple Thanksgiving Coasters Embroidery Project

You can easily stitch these out on felt to make an adorable one sided coaster or if you would like, you can easily make it two sided!

Preface:

Load your upper thread and bobbin with the same color thread. These are meant to be stitched with one color of thread. Please ignore color changes on stitch charts!

Step 1:

Stitch out the design on your fabric fall fabric almost all the way to the end.

Do not stitch the last satin stitch!

Step 2:

Unhoop the design and trim close to the stitch line (a little bigger than the stitch line is even better).

Step 3:

Hoop your stabilizer. Lay a piece of felt on the stabilizer.

Step 4:

Stitch everything except the last satin stitch. Remove your hoop from the machine and without removing the stabilizer from the hoop, trim the felt as close as possible to the stitch line.

Step 5:

Flip your hoop over. Take your design you stitched and trimmed on your fall fabric. Spray the back of it with embroidery adhesive. Carefully place it exactly over the stitch lines from the one that is already stitched (wrong sides together).

Step 6:

Return your hoop to your machine. Run your fingers over the coaster to make sure the back didn’t wrinkle.

Step 7:

Stitch the final satin stitch. Remove from machine a tear away from stabilizer! If you see little pieces of wash away stabilizer on the edges, just dip your finger in water and rub them away, instead of washing the whole thing and having to wait for it to dry. I suggest putting fray check or something like that on the edges; you now have a two sided coaster! You can put the same or different designs on each side!

I have just recently been blessed with my first granddaughter which is simply the most unbelievable gift away could give me! I started sewing about 40 years ago (YIKES! That just made me feel really old) by rolling myself up in a piece of fabric on the floor, drawing a line on it, cutting it, then proceeded to make my very own wedding gown Halloween costume. I haven't stopped sewing since. My primary business is purses. About 3 years ago I received my first embroidery machine as a Christmas gift. I was amazed watching it stitch and embroidered everything in sight. Although I love to sew, I love my computer more. When I found out I could draw my own things and turn them into embroidery patterns .....well...it has just snowballed. The funny part is, I spend more time digitizing now then I do sewing and I couldn't be happier!
