3D Planter Décor design

Fabric for applique (we used broadcloth)

Tearaway backing

Embroidery thread

Bobbin thread to match top thread color

12" crafter's dowel

Floral tape (if desired or paint)

Hot glue gun & hot glue

Spray adhesive

Scissors

Final Product: What You Will Create

Preface:

Open the PDF template files and cut out each applique piece to use as a template to cut your applique pieces.

Step 1:

Spray 1 piece of tearaway backing with spray adhesive. Place a second piece of backing on top of the first piece and press firmly. Hoop the backing.

Step 2:

Embroider the first color stop. This is the dieline for the first applique piece.

Step 3:

Spray the back of the applique piece, place the applique fabric inside the dieline and press gently.

Step 4:

Embroider the next color stop. (If you are embroidering the Sunflower 3D Planter, embroider color stop 4 as well). Remove from hoop.

Step 5:

Gently tear away the backing from the piece you have just embroidered and set it aside. Spray adhesive 2 more pieces of tearaway backing together, as in step 1, and hoop for the next step.

Step 6:

Return the hoop to your machine and embroider the next color stop. Spray the back of the applique piece, place the applique fabric inside the dieline and press gently.

Step 7:

Embroider the designs thru color stop 6. (If you are embroidering the Ladybug 3D Planter or Sunflower 3D Planter, embroider color stops 7 and 8 as well. Remove from hoop.

Step 8:

Gently tear away the backing from the piece you have just embroidered and set aside. Spray adhesive 2 more pieces of tearaway backing together, as in step 1, and hoop for the next step.

Step 9:

Spray the back of the two applique pieces and then sew the next color stop.

Step 10:

Place the large applique piece down first and then the smaller piece on top of it as you see in the image. Embroider the next color stop.

Step 11:

Place the last applique piece and continue to embroider the design.

Step 12:

Remove from hoop. Gently tear away the backing from the piece you have just embroidered and set aside.

Step 13:

Turn the design over and run a line of hot glue from the top to the bottom of the design.

Step 14:

Place the 12" crafter's dowel into the glue and hold for 1 minute. Now your 3D Planter design is complete.
