Materials
  • One of the Snow Globes designs
  • Clear shower curtain liner - heavyweight vinyl
  • Small craft beads
  • 5 pieces of extra thread or thin fishing line about 16" long

  • Designs used in this project

    Preface:
Before you begin, you will want to prepare your beads. Take out your beads and the fishing line or extra thread. We suggest using the thin fishing line because it will be easier to remove when the design has been completed. We used Rainbow Clear 11/0 Round beads. Feel free to try different sizes and colors. Thread about 30 beads onto each of the five lines/threads and set aside.

Embroider the design until the machine stops at the appropriate time. This will be after everything has sewn but the last 5 color stops. See the Color Stop sheet that comes with each design.

    Step 2:

Now that the machine has stopped you will need to work with the 5 strings of beads you have ready.

    Step 3:

Take the first one and put a needle on one end. Thread the needle through one side of the globe near the middle and let the string hang below. Then take the other end of the string and thread the needle. You will then insert the needle through the other side of the globe near the middle. Continue until all 5 strings are secured to the globe.

(You want to keep the beads away from the outside of the globe so the needle will not hit them when it embroiders the last part of the design.)

    Step 4:
The next step is to place a piece of the vinyl shower curtain over the globe.

Start the machine again and watch to make sure the beads do not shift to the outer edge of the globe. Also make sure the vinyl does not pucker too much.

    Step 5:

After the tackdown stitch is completed, you can cut away the remaining vinyl. But make sure to leave about 1/8" of the vinyl out away from the tackdown stitch so when the outlines sew, they will secure the vinyl.

(You can also leave the vinyl intact until the design is completely sewn and then trim the excess.)

    Step 6:

When the design has completed sewing, remove it from the hoop and pull the strings through the backside of the design to release the beads inside the globe.
