2 pieces of 7 ½” x 7 ½” fabric

1 stick (33 inches long) - a bamboo stick works the best

1/8” wide ribbon (33 inches long)

Catnip

Fiber stuffing

Step 1:

Sew embroidery file of your choice from the Cat Décor Design Pack in the center of each piece of fabric.

Step 2:

Place pattern on the top of fabric, center design inside pattern, and fasten to fabric with pins and cut pattern. A Fish Pattern is available to be downloaded here if you need one.

Step 3:

Place both pieces of fabric on top of each other right side together. Lay ribbon between both pieces with about ¼” to ½” hanging out past the tip of the fish mouth.

Step 4:

Sew a straight running stitch ¼” from the outside edge, leaving about a 1.5” opening in the center of the tail. You may want to go back over the edge where the ribbon is to reinforce it a bit more. Click picture to the left for details.

Step 5:

Cut notches out at the seam allowance around the fish. Click picture to the left for details.

Step 6:

Turn right side out.

Step 7:

Stuff with catnip and fiber stuffing.

Step 8:

Fold in seam allowance at the opening of the tail and slip-stitch closed.

Step 9:

Take the bamboo stick and carefully drill a hole about 1.5” down from the tip of the stick. Slide ribbon through the hole, and then tie a knot at the end so it doesn’t slip through the hole from the pressure of a cat playing with it on the other end.

Step 10:
