Identifying Products for the Customer
Once you have a firm understanding of what your customer is all about, it’s time to take a look at what you can offer him. Simply informing a potential client that you offer embroidery services and want his business is NOT an effective approach. If, instead, you approach the customer with specific ideas about logos, apparel, price points, etc. and present a package of ideas built around his needs, you will have a much better chance of success. But this requires you to first identify “who” the customer is, then set about building a portfolio of ideas that is unique to the customer. It should incorporate appropriate styles of apparel and creative designs ideas, all centered on the customer’s tastes and budget. Always take the lead in “planting seeds” in the minds of your customers. In many cases, they haven’t even thought about the prospect of buying embroidered apparel, much less the wide variety of possibilities and selections that exist. Your job is to create a demand where little or none exists. Having suitable samples on-hand for the customer to review adds a professional flair to the sales presentation and shows the client that you are prepared and ready to support him/her. First impressions are critical, so having the right products on hand will go a long way towards insuring that the initial contact is positive and fruitful. |
