Pillows & Cushions IX Embroidery Project

Large cruisers and fishing boats have all kinds of pillows and cushions that are suitable for embroidery. Much like vacation homes, boaters love to name their vessel and then imprint that name on every possible item. For the larger craft with well-appointed cabins, you will find an assortment of throw pillows, sleeping pillows, cushions, and even animal beds, all of which are ready and waiting for embellishment. In the case of the interior of a boat, pretty much everything gets the boat name and maybe a nautical symbol.

But cushions also exist outside of the cabin. The most popular item to receive embroidery is a fighting chair, or heavy-duty deck chair. In either case, the embroidery needs to be done in conjunction with the upholstery. Neither item allows for easy removal and access of the cushions.

Most of the embroidery projects for larger boats take place during construction or overhaul. (Most large craft have an owner before the boat construction is completed, allowing them the option to customize the craft during the finishing stages.) And of course, be sure to use polyester thread for all of the exterior cushions since most fishing vessels are washed down using bleach.
