Resources and Information
NOTE: Several websites are referenced within the context of this article. The author does not have any affiliation with these sites and is not attempting to single out or promote any of them. They are listed for reference only. Resource Sites There are hundreds, if not thousands of websites that feature an array of resources for hobby and commercial embroiderers alike. Typically these sites offer “free” tips and techniques, tutorial materials and/or stock designs to attract visitors. The “freebies” are usually tempered with ads and/or product endorsements. This is a reality of the Internet, as building and maintaining a website has a certain degree of cost, so it’s only natural that the owner wishes to generate revenue through advertising. However, since the free information is targeted to a specific group of people, the advertising and/or products found that go with it are usually of interest to the user. A few interesting sites to visit include: www.freeembroiderystuff.com, www.embroideryyellowpages.com, and www.annthegran.com. Vendor Online Stores Many of the industry vendors have created online stores for selling their products. Rather than waiting for a printed catalog to arrive in the mail, customers can immediately go online 24/7 and purchase what they need. Though many people still prefer a printed catalog, electronic shopping is much better, provided the website is created in a useful friendly manner. In many cases, the vendors will also provide product specific support and service via their website as well. The worldwide web is perhaps the most stunning development of the 21st century. The amount of information and resources available at your fingertips is unbelievable. If you look hard enough you can find information on anything you wish. Anything! The whole world is only a few clicks away. No matter where you live, you will never be far from the people, products and information that make your embroidery projects a success. |
