The mouth

The mouth is made up of the teeth and lips. In this design, the mouth is nothing more than a single fill stitch segment. No attempt was made to define the teeth as individual elements, as it is not needed. In fact, trying to create single teeth is not practical for the space available. The end result would be poor sewing quality as the stitch lengths would fall below 1mm. In addition, the visual aspect would be such that the subject would appear to have dental problems.

The lips are composed of two outlining satin segments, one for the upper and one for the lower lip. Both overlap the fill stitch that makes up the teeth. Trying to use one segment that “turned the corners” would have been a mistake, as it would have caused sewing and quality problems. Overall the mouth is well done and fits the design concept nicely.
