Putting Together A Sales Kit

So now that you have some ideas for reaching out and finding potential customers, it’s time to put together a sales kit so you’ll have something to sell. Typically, clients will wish to purchase a complete package that includes the garment and the embroidery. With this in mind, it’s important to have a selection of garments to show. Now this doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy one of everything in your favorite supplier’s catalog. In fact, the catalog alone might be sufficient in many cases. But you should purchase some of the most commonly requested garments so that you can have a few “live” samples to show to the customer. Make sure you choose interesting colors, so that your garment collection will have an exciting, appealing look to it.

In addition to garments, your sales kit should contain a portfolio of your work. Consider creating a book of sew-outs that customers can thumb through to see the quality of your work. As you add more customers, be sure to update your book with their logos. When new clients see familiar logos belonging to other local businesses in your book, they will perceive your business as being reliable and dependable, which is a definite plus for turning leads into sales.

Finally, your sales kit should include some type of pricing information. Once you get the customer excited about embroidery, you need to be able to quote a price. At the very least you should have a price list to coincide with any garments and/or catalog that you have on-hand. Pricing for the actual sewing is just as important, but there are a lot of variables, so many embroiderers don’t have a firm price list developed. Pricing is an entire subject in itself, so we won’t go into it here. Suffice it to say, that you must have some type of pricing strategy to effectively close a sale.

To wrap it all up in a neat package, purchase a good quality garment bag to house your sales kit and embroider your company name on it. Now you are all set to make a great impression on your customer and start closing deals.
