Present a client with his logo

Another tool for promoting your business involves setting up a potential customer’s logo and presenting it to him. Of course if you can’t digitize your options are limited, but not totally zero. As an alternative, set up a stock design and lettering that you think will catch the client’s attention, and then sew it on something that will appeal to him.

For example, if the prospective client is a tackle shop, choose an appropriate fish design, such as a bass (if the shop deals with freshwater fishing), and add lettering with the shop’s name. Keep in mind that many small businesses don’t have an actual logo, so creating a design concept can be quite effective.

However, the idea of combining a stock design and lettering can even work for companies that do have a specific logo. You can use your creation to open a door and get the client’s interest, then have an opportunity to digitize their actual logo for a fee. If you were to walk in with their logo already digitized, chances are you couldn’t charge a fee to set it up if they decided to do business with you, since you had already done the work in advance.

Once you have a suitable design creation, sew it on something to present to the business owner. Take special care in selecting the item to sew on. In the case of the tackle shop, a cap is probably appropriate as its something that most tackle shops sell. However if the potential client was a bank, a cap is probably not a good choice. Be creative in what you choose, as the wrong item will be a real turn-off to the sales process.
