Applique Let's Eat Lunch Bag Embroidery Project

Gather all supplies and review instructions before beginning. Print out paper template of embroidery design “Let’s Eat”

Cut (2)  12" x 15" from outer fabric and ( 2) from lining fabric. Cut 2” squares on each corner of outer  and lining fabric panels

Fold one of the outer panel fabric in half, lengthwise to find center. Finger press to form a folded seam. Turn panel so that top is at the bottom and the cut square corners are at the top. Center position paper design template approx.. 2.5” from bottom edge to center of design. Mark axis points.

Spray temporary adhesive spray directly onto stabilizer. Center outer panel onto stabilizer matching axis points to your hoop’s built in axis point markings. Finger press to secure in place. Attach hoop to machine. Refer to the one thread color on design chart or use your choice based on your fabric choice to match. Confirm center needle placement. Begin the embroidering stitch out process.

Stitch out complete. Detach hoop. Cut/trim jump stitches and loose thread ends. Trim stabilizer ¼’ out from design. Cut a 4” length of elastic. Fold in half to form a loop. Attach loop at top edge 6” in from side edge (center) and stitch in place with a back and forth stitch to secure.

Place outer panels right side together. Stitch sides and bottom edges using ¼” seam allowance.

Box bottoms by matching raw edges of both 2” square cuts and lining up seams. Stitch across. Set outer lunchbag aside.

Repeat steps #6 and #7 using lining pieces. Leave a 2” opening at bottom for turning. Turn lining right side out. Insert lining into outer lunch bag with right sides together. Matching up side seams and top edge. Ensure loop stays down in between lining and outer lunch bag. Pin in place. Stitch all around top edge of lunch bag using ¼” seam allowance.

Pull outer bag through opening in lining. Push out boxed corners. Using 1/8” seam allowance stitch opening closed. Push lining down into bag. Iron press top edge. Top stich all around top edge using 1/8” seam allowance.

Flatten out one side. Mark 2” out from side seam on each side of stitched seam at top edge. Repeat on other side seam.

Pinch at marked top edge and corresponding boxed corner. Flatten and iron press to create a folded edge. Repeat for the opposite side seam.

Ensure lining is smoothed out on the inside and lined up. Pin in place. Repeat on the other side and pin in place. Stitch from top edge to beginning of the boxed corner using 1/8” from edge to create a folded edge.

On the back side of lunch bag center position your button 4” up from bottom. Stitch in place. Fold top down for a flap and put button through loop.

Viola! Your Fabric Lunch Bag is complete! Great job! Use different color threads for the word design to create additional lunch bags!
