Gather all supplies and review instructions before beginning. Print out paper template of embroidery design.

Step 2:
Sew your fabric scraps/remnants together to make roughly a 12” x 27” rectangle. Make your rectangle as scrappy as you like, keeping in mind the placement of embroidery design and thread colors to be used.

Step 3:
Cut a piece of your cotton fabric that you have chosen for the back of cover slightly larger than your 12” x 27” rectangle. Cut a piece of cotton batting the same size of your back fabric and sandwich the batting in the middle. Spray temp adhesive spray between layers to help secure.

Step 4:
Quilt as desired or attach your quilting space bar and do straight stitch quilting. Set space bar at 1” . Trim quilted rectangle to 11” x 26”.

Step 5:
Make a binding by cutting two strips of 2” x12” for a single layer folded binding. This will be used to cover the short 11” edges on each ends. Attach using your favorite binding method.

Step 6:
Zig zag or serge top and bottom raw edges.

Step 7:
To ensure correct placement of design before construction of cover, fold in each end of cover by 5”. Place paper template atop front of your book cover center and mark axis points.( Also keep in mind the 1/2" seam allowance at top and bottom.)

Step 8:
Load design file into your machine. Resize by enlarging 125% for a size of 3”(h) x 5”(w) Hoop a piece of stabilizer. Spray TAS. Center and place front of book cover onto stabilizer matching axis points to your hoop markings.

Step 9:
Attach hoop to machine. Confirm center needle placement. Begin embroidering process. Stitch out approx. 12min. @ 700 SPM ( Stitch Per Minute) Stitch out complete. Detach hoop. Cut trim all loose thread ends and jump stitches. Remove stabilizer from back

Step 10:
Fold 5” in on each end with right sides together . Using ½” seam allowance stitch top and bottom in place from binding to the fold top and bottom.

Step 11:
Trim corners. Turn right side out. Iron press seam. Pin in place the center spine section. It will fold over naturally the ½” seam allowance. Using 1/8” seam allowance from edge stitch spine of cover from binding to binding from each flap.

Step 12:
Insert your composition notebook ends into your flaps and you are done! Way to go!
