    Step 2:

Run the 1st color stop (CS) as a placement line for the fabrics.  It does not matter what color thread you use for this as it will later be cut away from the project.

    Step 3:

Lay the 4” x 6” felt over the placement lines so that the felt exceeds the placement lines by ½” on all sides.  Do NOT use any adhesive spray just lay the felt over the placement lines. Run CS 2 in any color thread to tack it down.

    Step 4:

Follow the color chart to embroidery the design.  Do NOT stitch the last color stop yet.

    Step 5:

Remove the hoop from the machine, do not unhoop.  Place the hoop face down on a flat surface.  Lay the 4” x 3 1’2” felt rectangle so that the 4” measurement goes across the width of the project.  Lay the top of the 3 ½” edge even with the little marks that stitched out when the tack down stitch was sewn.  Tape the side edges of the felt down with embroidery or painter’s tape.

    Step 6:

Return the hoop to the machine and run the last color stop to stitch the border and eyelet on the project.

    Step 7:

Trim all around the gift card holder 1/8” from the stitched border.

    Step 8:

Punch a hole in the eyelet circle for the ribbon.

    Step 9:

Remove the tear-away stabilize from the back of the project.  It is only necessary to remove from the top and just a little inside the pocket on the back.

This is what the back of the gift card holder will look like with a gift card inserted.

    Step 11:

With the help of the awl gently push the ribbon through the hole.  Tie a looped knot in the ends and trim if necessary.

    Step 12:
