Final Product: What You Will Create

    Preface:
Personalized napkins with the split letter sunflower design.  An embroidery software program was used to add the name to the design.  Embroidery machines have built-in fonts that would work also.  A small font size (.50) is needed for the design.

    Step 1:
Gather & prepare the materials needed for the project.  Read the directions before you begin the project.  Iron and lightly starch the fabric.

    Step 2:
The sunflower split letter design has a space to add personalization.  Many people choose to insert their last name in the space.  Other choices could be using a first name like Lily for the letter ‘L’ or WELCOME for the letter ‘W’.   A small size font (.50) is needed to add the name.  Personalize the design.  Print the design template.

NOTE:  The sports font used in the template was reduced slightly in size with the embroidery software program.

    Step 3:
Place one napkin on a flat surface so that it forms a diamond shape.  Place a ruler corner to corner on the napkin.  Use a fabric pen to draw an 8" line on the lower corner.

    Step 4:
Use the line as a placement guide.  Center the design 5" from the bottom corner.  Pin the template in place.

    Step 5:
Hoop one piece of medium weight cut away stabilizer.  Mark the center point on the stabilizer.  Center the napkin on the stabilizer.  Use a light mist of 505 Temporary Adhesive spray on the stabilizer.  Gently press the napkin onto the stabilizer.  Add pins for added stability.

NOTE:  Wonder Pins are shown in the picture.  Their curved end are super easy & fast to insert. They are awesome for embroidery.

    Step 6:
Load the design.  Check your needle size.  Check bobbin area for debris or bits of thread.  Attach the hoop.  Make sure the stitching field is clear, & the napkin sides are not caught underneath the hoop.  Embroider the design.

    Step 7:
Remove the hoop from the machine.  Trim any long threads if needed from the front and back.  Trim the stabilizer leaving an 1/2" margin around the design.

    Step 8:
You have completed a split letter sunflower design on a napkin.  Repeat the steps to add more napkins to your set.

    Step 9:
    Congrats!  WTG!

Beautiful things are made one stitch at a time...
