Does your stand mixer sit on your counter? This is a great way to cover your mixer bowl while not in use to prevent dust and/or crumbs from gathering in the bowl and the embroidered design will add a pinch of charm to your kitchen décor. Most stand mixer bowls are standard in size. This tutorial will show you how to measure your bowl for a custom fit. The bowl used in this tutorial measures 10". Embroidery design used 2.61" x 5"
Step 1:
Gather all supplies and review instructions before beginning.

Print paper template of embroidery design.

Step 3:
A 10” bowl was used in this tutorial. You will be using a total of 2 cotton fabric fat quarters. (1) primary fabric = top of bowl cover (1) lining. Prewash your fabric to prevent shrinkage. Iron press if needed.
Step 4:
Lay your bowl topside down on wrong side of your primary fabric. Measure and mark 1 1/4” out all around the bowl making a circle.

Step 5:
Lay primary fabric atop your lining and cut out bowl pattern. ( Lining is the same as primary fabric in this tutorial)

Load design into your machine.

Step 7:
Find center of primary fabric circle. Fold in half. Fingertip press. Quarter fold. Fingertip press. This method will create a creased crosshair.

Center place embroidery design paper template and mark axis lines and center point.

Step 9:
Hoop stabilizer. Lightly spray temporary adhesive spray atop stabilizer. Center place primary fabric circle matching up axis lines to markings on hoop. Fingertip press to secure in place. Attach hoop to machine. Confirm center needle placement and begin the embroidering process. Follow thread colors from design thread color chart or your choice.

Step 10:
Embroidering complete. Remove hoop. Cut and trim all jump stitches and loose thread ends front and back. Trim cut away stabilizer away from design.

Step 11:
Place lining fabric circle on top of primary fabric circle. Right sides together. Pin in place. Stitch all around using ¼” seam allowance. Leave a 2” opening for turning. Snip edges all around. Be careful not to cut into stitch.

Step 12:
Turn right side out through opening. Iron press. Turn in opening seam allowance and iron press. Stitch ½” seam allowance from outside circle edge. This will create a casing for the elastic.

Step 13:
Cut piece of elastic your bowl size x 2. ( bowl used in this tutorial 10” x 2 = 20” cut length of elastic) Attach a safety pin to one end and feed through casing at the opening. Match the two ends and stitch together. Close opening with a hand stitch. And Viola! Your Stand Mixer Bowl Cover is complete! Good job!
