Materials
  • 30cm plain cotton fabric
  • 30cm printed cotton fabric
  • 30cm fusible fleece/batting
  • Embroidery threads x 3 colors
  • 4” hoop
  • Tearaway stabilizer
  • Spray adhesive
  • Matching sewing machine thread

  • Designs used in this project

    Preface:
This case suits my 10" scissors, you could alter the pattern or create your own if your scissors are not the same size.

    Step 1:
Gather all your materials and read through the instructions before you begin. Have a copy of the color sequence on hand for the embroidery stitch out.

    Step 2:
Print off a copy of the case pattern onto A4 paper and cut around each pattern piece. Then cut the required pieces from your fabric and fleece/batting

    Step 3:
On the front piece of the plain cotton, mark down 10cm from the top edge, measure across the width and mark halfway to indicate the center of the embroidery design. Hoop your stabilizer then apply some spray adhesive to the back of the cotton fabric and position the fabric onto the stabilize ensuring it is centered. I have used a tack down stitch to further secure the fabric in place. Stitch out the design, remove from the hoop and tearaway the stabilizer

    Step 4:
Fuse the fleece/batting to the back of the plain cotton pieces.

    Step 5:
On the front embroidered piece, place the printed cotton over the top with right sides facing. Pin together then stitch across the top edge using a ¼” seam.

    Step 6:
Lay the front sewn piece onto the back plain cotton piece, with right sides facing. Then lay the back printed cotton over the top matching the edges. Pin and sew around using a 10mm seam, ensuring you leave an opening to turn the case through.

    Step 7:
Snip into the seam allowance around the corners to allow the corners to sit flat then turn the case through. Leaving the case inside out, pin together the small opening, ensuring you have all layers pinned together and sew closed. You can use pinking shears to trim that seam.

    Step 8:
Now turn the case right side out and press. Now your scissors case is complete and clear for all to see not to touch your scissors!!
