Christmas Tree Skirt Embroidery Project

A design template is a printout of the design from an embroidery software program. The template is the actual size of the design which makes a great visual tool. The vertical and horizontal axis on the template provides perfect placement of the embroidery designs.

Fold the tree skirt in half.  Make sure the edges are even.  Iron a crease on the fold line.  The crease line is the center front on the tree skirt.

Place a ruler along the crease line.

Decide on the spot for the design placement.  The design was placed on the center front approximately 3.5" from the lower edge.  Slide the design template under the ruler until the center lines match.  Match the horizontal lines (side to side) on the template and ruler.  

Pin the template in place on the tree skirt.

Fold back the other side of the tree skirt.  Lightly mist the stabilizer with 505 Temporary spray.  Gently press the tree skirt onto the stabilizer.  Make sure the surface is smooth & wrinkle free.  

Pin the skirt to the stabilizer for added security due to the weight of the skirt.

Load the design on the embroidery machine.  Check your needle and bobbin.  Attach the hoop.  Place one piece of Water Soluble topping over the stitching field.  

Stitch the design.  

Remove the hoop from the machine.  Trim jump stitches if needed.  Gently tear away the water soluble topping.  Follow the directions on the water soluble topping package to remove the remaining topping.  

Trim the cutaway stabilizer from around the design leaving about a 1/2" margin.  Trim long threads if needed.

You have completed the 'Under the Tree' Christmas tree skirt.
