Step 2:
From the plain fabric cut 1 piece 9 ½” x 13”, another piece 12” x 13”. From the patterned fabric cut 1 piece 3 ¼” x 13”.

Step 3:
On the smaller plain color rectangle, mark the centre of the fabric to indicate the centre of the embroidery design. Hoop the stabilizer then apply some spray adhesive to the back of the cotton panel, centre on the stabilizer and press down to secure, if you don’t have spray adhesive you could pin the fabric or use a tack down stitch to hold the fabric in place. Step 4:
Lay the patterned fabric on top of the embroidered panel, right sides together matching the long edge. Stitch together using a ¼” seam then open and press flat

Step 5:
Lay the zipper face down at the bottom of the front panel and pin to the bottom edge. Stitch in place, using a zipper foot if you have one. Otherwise just stitch as close to the teeth as possible. Then lay the back panel on and pin the other edge of the zip to the bottom of the back panel, stitch in place.

Step 6:
Pin all edges together. Remember to open the zipper a little so you can turn the cushion through. Stitch around all edges using a 10mm seam. When you get to the zipper area, stitch ¼” above the zip stitch line and 1” past the end of the zip. Trim the corners and turn through the cushion. Fill with a cushion insert or polyester filling.

Step 7:
Well done, you are finished! The cushion makes a great gift or holiday décor.
