By combining your sewing skills with scrapbooking, you can:

  • make and preserve memories at the same time
  • create beautiful photo collages and album pages
  • embroider on both fabric and paper
  • replace stickers with embroidery
  • Select designs that form a frame when the center is trimmed away
  • Combine names, dates and motifs with these designs to personalize them

Ideas

  • Albums & Brag Books
  • Frames &Photo collages
  • Quilts & Wallhangings

Lovely Layouts

About three to five photos will fit on a page, depending on the size

  • Sketch the layout on a piece of paper that is the same size as your album page or picture frame or use OESD’s Explorations software for easy-on-screen layout.
  • Position the designs that will hold the photographs first.
  • Next, decide where to place lettering.
  • Finish by adding small borders and motifs to fill in empty spaces.

Embroidery Design Ideas for Making Memories

  • Tags (Try OESD packs 11850 & 11985)
  • Alphabets (Try packs 11903 & 11612)
  • Frames (Try packs 11779 & 11946)
  • Borders (Try packs 11369 & 11805)
  • Themed Design Collections for Life (Try packs 11889 & 11894)
  • Whimsical designs (Try packs 11877 & 11942)
  • One color designs (Try packs 11897 & 11960)
  • Look for designs that have a center area that is not embroidered (frames & shields(pack 11476), hearts (pack 11866), lace motifs (pack 11646))
  • Look for motifs that can be combined, rotated and mirror imaged to create frames (floral designs, borders, letters, mini embroidery designs that can be placed on the edge of a shield or frame)

Designs that are filled-in but have a final satin-stitched outline can be used if your machine enables you to skip colors. Or, delete the center sections of the design with the help of your editing software.

Personalize your page with embroidered lettering for places, names and dates.
