Materials
  • Hand towel any color
  • Tear away stabilizer
  • Water soluble stabilizer
  • Temporary spray adhesive
  • Embroidery thread
  • Embroidery software or duplicate feature on your machine

  • Designs used in this project

    Preface:
Embellished hand towels are a nice hostess gift or just nice to have around the house. You can make this up quickly and easily. I used my embroidery software to copy the design and double the width of the design. You may also be able to do this on your machine, using the duplicate and placement features.

    Step 1:
Gather the materials and read through the instructions before beginning. Print out a paper template of the design and color sequence.

    Step 2:
Hoop your stabilizer and spray it with the temporary embroidery spray adhesive, following manufacturer’s instructions.

    Step 3:
Fold the towel in half lengthwise and press lightly to crease the center to help hooping and design placement.

    Step 4:
Hoop the towel, lining up the pressed center line with the vertical placement notches on the hoop, pressing it firmly in place onto the temporary spray adhesive.

Determine a placement that is pleasing to you.

    Step 5:
Place water soluble stabilizer as a topper over the design area.

I like to use a small piece of tape to keep it in place.

    Step 6:
Place it on your machine to begin stitching, following the stitch sequence of the design.

It is helpful to roll up the excess towel to keep it out of the embroidery field.

    Step 7:
When done stitching, remove the towel from the hoop. Carefully remove the tear away stabilizer from the back and the water soluble stabilizer from the front.

    Step 8:
Your beautifully embellished towel is now ready for that special hostess, or for your own enjoyment. Well done!
