Final Product: What You Will Create

    Preface:
Enjoy your favorite springtime beverage with these cute upcycled denim coasters under your mug or glass. They are quick to make and this design pack has so many designs to choose from. They make quick gifts, too!

    Step 1:
Gather the materials and read through the instructions before beginning. Print out a paper template of the design and color sequence.

    Step 2:
Cut 8 squares of denim into 5” squares. You will need two per coaster for front and back. Cut 4 squares of batting into 4.5” squares for the lining.

    Step 3:
Hoop your stabilizer, score the top paper and peel it away. Mark the hooped stabilizer into fourths to help center the square on the hoop.

    Step 4:
Fold the top square of denim into fourths and align it with the lower left hand part of the cross. Then open the full length along the vertical center line.

    Step 5:
Open the square, pressing onto the stabilizer. Mark a dot in the center to help align on your embroidery machine.

    Step 6:
Place the hooped fabric onto your embroidery machine, checking that the center dot aligns with the center placement on your machine.

    Step 7:
Stitch your design following the color sequence.  When stitching is complete, remove the stitched project from the machine and remove it carefully from the tear away stabilizer.

    Step 8:
If you would like to pink the edges or use other decorative shears, do so before placing the denim and batting “sandwich” together.

    Step 9:
Center the batting on the bottom (back) of the coaster and place the embroidered piece on top, matching edges.

    Step 10:
Pin the sandwich together and use whatever stich you like to sew the three pieces together. I chose a contrasting thread, but you can do matching thread, or use a decorative stitch to finish the edges.

    Step 11:
That was quick! Now have a nice cup of coffee or a glass of lemonade and enjoy your beautiful work.
