By Marisa Littleton
'Baked With Love' Christmas Pan Handlers....A quick and easy variation to an oven mitt. Very basic sewing is included in the project. These 'Panhandlers' will cover the front and back of your hands up to your wrists. Great gift idea for the bakers in your life!
Step 1:
Gather the materials needed for the project. A total of 4 commercial pot holders are needed to make a set of 'Panhandlers'. Print a design template to use as a guide for placement. Read the directions before starting the project.
Step 2:
Hoop one piece of medium weight (2.5 oz.) cutaway stabilizer. Mark the center and axis points on the stabilizer.

Use the design template as a guide for placement on the potholder. Pin the template in place on the potholder.
Step 4:
Load the embroidery design 'Baked With Love' onto the machine. Check the needle. Attach the hoop to the machine. Embroider the design. Use the color chart as a stitching guide. Once completed, remove the hoop from the machine.
Step 5:
Remove the project from the hoop. Trim excess stabilizer from the back of the potholder leaving about a 1/4" margin. Trim any long threads on the back if needed.
TIP: A lint roller does a great job removing stray threads from projects.
Step 6:
Place a blank potholder on a flat surface in front of you. Lay the embroidered potholder on top of the potholder. Right side should be facing you. Pin the two potholders together on three sides. Leave the top side open.
Using a sewing machine, stitch a seam around three edges sewing the two potholders together. Remove the pins.
Step 7:
Repeat steps 2 through 6 to make a second 'Panhandler'.
Step 8:
Congrats! WTG! Neat job! You have completed a set of Christmas Panhandlers 'Baked With Love!
