Embroidery Hoop Mirror Embroidery Project

Resize the design template slightly using an embroidery software program.  Embrilliance Essentials software was used for this project.  New dimensions are 7 3/4" x 7 3/4".

Read the directions for the project.  Gather and prepare the materials.  

Follow package instructions to fuse the fusible fleece to the wrong side of one piece of fabric.  

Hoop one piece of cut away stabilizer.  Float the fabric with the fleece on the back onto the stabilizer.  Use temporary adhesive spray to secure the fabric to the stabilizer.  Pins may be used for additional security.

Load the design on the machine.  Attach the hoop.  Stitch the design.  

On the back of the stitching, measure and mark the stabilizer 3/4" from the inner edge of the stitching.  

Pin the stitched design and the second piece of fabric together with right sides facing each other.

Cut along the line that you marked on the stabilizer.

Sew a seam about 1/4" from the inner stitched circle.

Clip around the inner circle at about 1/2" spaces.  

Turn the fabric so right sides are out.  Press along the edges of the inner circle.   Pin to hold the fabric in place.

Make a 1/4" seam around the inner edge on the circle using your sewing machine.

Hoop the stitched design in the traditional embroidery hoop.  Trim off extra fabric.  Tighten the screw on the hoop securely.

Put a thin line of hot glue about 1/4" from the edge of the inner circle on the back side of the hoop.   Gently place the mirror on the back of the hooped fabric.  The reflective side of the mirror will be face down.   Put hot glue around the outer edges of the mirror next to the embroidery hoop.  

Using the traditional embroidery hoop as a pattern, trace a circle onto the cardstock.

Hot glue the cardstock to the back of the embroidery hoop.

Hot glue ribbon around the embroidery hoop.  

Cut a 7-8" piece of ribbon for the hanger.  Loop the ribbon through the opening in the hoop.  Tie a knot.
