  • 5"x7" hoop
  • Design Template
  • 5"x7" picture frame
  • Embroidery Needle (75/11)
  • 40 wt. embroidery thread (Robison-Anton) per color chart
  • No-show Cut-away mesh stabilizer (2.0 oz.) to fit hoop
  • hot glue gun & glue stick
  • 5/8" grosgrain ribbon (12-18")
  • 8"x10" piece 100% cotton quilt shop quality blender fabric (neutral color)
  • 505 Temporary Adhesive Spray
  • Multi-Purpose Adhesive Spray
  • One 5"x7" piece of white cardstock
  • felt flower
  • Embrilliance Essentials embroidery software program

    Final Product: What You Will Create
    Preface:
    A 'Do Not Disturb' bathroom sign for those enjoying a bubble bath.  A simple, easy project that would be great for all ages and levels.  

    Step 1:
    The design template was enlarged slightly to be more proportionate for a 5"x7" picture frame.  An embroidery software program was used (Embrilliance Essentials) to resize the design to 5"x 3 3/4"; however, many embroidery machines have a resizing feature.

    Step 2:
    Read the project directions.  Gather and prepare the materials.

    Step 3:
    Hoop 1 piece of No-Show cutaway stabilizer.  Float the fabric on the stabilizer.
    Use 505 Temporary Adhesive Spray to secure the fabric to the stabilizer. 

    Step 4:
    Load the design template onto the embroidery machine.  Attach the embroidery hoop.   Stitch the design following the color chart or personal preferences.   Remove the design from the machine.

    Step 5:
    Trim the fabric to 5"x7".  I used the glass from the picture frame as a guide before trimming the fabric.  
     
    Lightly mist one side of the cardstock with the Multi-Purpose adhesive spray.  Carefully place the stitched design onto the cardstock.  Gently press in place making sure the surface is smooth and wrinkle free.

    Step 6:
    Decide how long you want the hanger to be for the picture.  A 12" piece of ribbon was used in the example.  
     
    Place a dot of hot glue (pencil eraser in size) on the upper inside corners of the picture frame.  Press each end of the ribbon onto the hot glue.   

    Step 7:
    Make sure that the glass surface and fabric are free of debris.  Put the picture frame together.  

    Step 8:
    A felt flower was hot glued to the ribbon for decoration.  WTG!  Good job!
