So simple and easy to make. A great way to use all those fabric scraps. Just cut your fabric, embroider, fill the bag with rice and you're done! These hand warmers will make the perfect small gift for any recipient by personalizing with an embroidery design.
Step 1:

Step 2:
Cut your cotton fabric scraps into 5” x 5” square. Each hand warmer will need two cut pieces.

Step 3:
Hoop your sticky stabilizer. Remove top paper to reveal adhesive and center mark with a crosshair.

Step 4:
To prepare and easily center your 5” x 5” cut piece for your embroidery design. Fold in half. Quarter fold by folding in half again. Place onto stabilizer matching folded corner to top left crosshair corner.

Unfold and fingertip press onto stabilizer to secure.

Step 6:
Load design into your machine. For this tutorial the embroidery design used is “Baby It’s Cold Outside”. Confirm center placement by doing a “trace” per your machines instructions. Begin the embroidering process.

Step 7:
Embroidering complete. Remove hoop. Clip all jump stitches and loose thread ends. Remove stabilizer.

Step 8:
Two cut fabrics for each set. Using your embroidered piece. Pin wrong sides together.

Step 9:
Sew all sides using ½” seam allowance. Leave an opening for filling of rice.

Step 10:
Use your pinking shears and “pink” all the side edges.

Step 11:
Fill using approximately 2/3 of rice. Pin to hold and stitch opening closed. (It's optional but in this step, you can add a drop of essential oil)

Step 12:
Congratulations! Your hand warmer is complete. So quick and simple. So many designs on the ED site that you can use for that personalized small gift. Be sure to make yourself a few! ( Repeat the above steps for the other embroidery designs)
*Heat hand warmers in the microwave for approximately 20- 30 seconds. Put in pockets or gloves. Reheat as necessary.
