Kids Cat Hat With Ears Embroidery Project

Description

You don't need a hat hoop to add embroidery to a hat. Also - can we talk about how cute the addition of these cat ears are!

  • Tear Away Stabilizer

    Preface:
    Forget the hat hoop. Check Meow-T in this adorable custom cat hat!

    Step 1:
    Gather your materials

    Step 2:
    Cut 4 triangles out of felt. 2 triangles will be used for each ear. Sew together each ear, right sides together, on two sides. Flip right sides out and top stitch. This makes the ear look like it has an outer and inner ear.

    Step 3:
    Once your ears are complete, get out your seam ripper, needle, and thread.

    Step 4:
    Looking at the head on, decide which seams you will place your ears on. I placed mine towards the top of the two side seams. Then seam rip your hat open enough to fit each ear in.

    Step 5:
    Slide the finished ear through the opening and hand sew in place. 1/4' seam allowance.

    Step 6:
    Sew your design out onto felt and trim to your liking.

    Step 7:
    Hot glue the design onto the front of your hat. Don't be afraid to carry it on over to the brim.
