Step 3:
Cut a 13 ½” x 32” piece of cotton drill. Fold the piece in half, lengthwise, then mark the centre point across the width which is at 6 ¾”. Then from the fold on the bottom, mark up 7 ½” and mark. The reason this isn’t marked halfway up is because we turn under 1” around the top of the bag.

Step 4:
Hoop your stabilizer and fabric, ensuring the centre cross hair mark is centered in your hoop. Stitch out the design. Once complete, remove the hoop and unhoop the fabric.

Step 7:
To make the straps, cut 2 strips 24” x 2” from the cotton drill. Fold them in half widthwise and sew using a ¼” seam to form tubes then turn them right side out. Then edgestitch both sides of the straps.

Step 8:
Around the top of the bag, mark at 3” and 9” on the front and back of the bag. This is the strap positioning. Place the straps on these marks then stitch down, ensuring one strap is pinned to the front and one strap for the back. Then turn the strap upwards and stitch across the top edge of the bag to secure the strap in place.
