SUNNY SIDE UP Embroidery Project

Gather the materials.  Read through the instructions before beginning.  Resize the design using embroidery software to 6" x 6".  Embrilliance Essentials software was used for the project.  Print the Design Template and Color Chart.  Iron and starch the towel.

Fold the towel in half lengthwise.  Match the edges on the towel.  Iron a crease at the fold.  

Cut your rick rack the width of your towel leaving about 1" overlap on each side.

Measure 4.5” from the bottom of the towel.  Begin pinning the top edge of the rick rack to the front of the towel.  Double fold the rick rack on the back of the towel at each side and pin in place.

Sew the rick rack in place on the towel.   The example has two seams in the center of the rick rack.  

Fold towel in half lengthwise with WRONG SIDE facing you.  Iron a light crease at the fold.

The paper design template is the actual size of the stitch out.  Use the template as a guide for placement and positioning of the design on the towel.
Measure 6½ “ from the top of the fold and mark the center point. Mark the axis on the towel.

A ‘floating’ technique will be used for this project.  Only the stabilizer is hooped.  The towel is secured on top of the stabilizer with temporary adhesive spray and pins.  
Hoop 1 sheet of medium tear-away stabilizer.  Mark the center point and axis on the stabilizer.

Align the towel with the center point and axis on the stabilizer.  

Spray the opposite side the stabilizer with a temporary adhesive spray. Fold the towel down onto the stabilizer.  Press gently and smooth fabric.  Repeat for the other side of the towel.

Load the embroidery design on your machine.  Stitch the design.  Use the color guide on the machine and printed chart as a guide.
