Add a personal touch to a store bought a floppy straw hat by using this Honey Script embroidery font to express yourself with creative sayings. This is a 2” font that you will need a software program to add each letter into to create a word/saying. This is not a keyboard font.
Step 1:
Gather all supplies and review instructions before beginning.

Step 2:
Create your saying using your embroidery software by bringing in each letter into your software program. ( using your software instructions) Print out each word template.

Step 3:
Place templates on hat brim to review placements.

Step 4:
For each word template, mark center placement with a crosshair using your disappearing fabric marker/pen.

Step 5:
Hoop sticky stabilizer and remove top paper to reveal adhesive. Center mark onto the adhesive a crosshair from top to bottom and side to side.

Step 6:
Attach hat brim to adhesive lining up crosshair marks to center and press down to secure. I attached the brim of the hat upside down onto the adhesive as I wanted the hat to hang down in front of machine. Cut a piece of oversized water soluble stabilizer to lay on top of hat brim to cover the stitch out of design. This is to ensure that the embroidering stitches do not sink into the straw. Tape to secure.

Step 7:
Load your design into your machine. Using your machines instructions, rotate your design 180* so that your design is upside down.

Step 8:
Insert hoop onto your machine. Trace your design per your machine’s instructions to ensure your design is centered for placement of embroidery. Begin the embroidering process.

Step 9:
Embroidering complete. Remove hoop from the machine. Cut and trim all jump stitches and loose thread ends. Remove all stabilizers.

Step 10:
Follow the above steps for the words/saying you created as needed. If you used the “ Do Not Disturb” saying as in this tutorial you will need to hoop 2 more times.
Step 11:
Once all your words have been embroidered onto your hat…. Your floppy straw hat is now complete. Optional: Add a fabric ribbon or rhinestones for a bit of flair. Make another for your BFF! So versatile to wear to any summer activity.
