Red, White, and Blue cotton fabric of your choice

Cotton or heavy duty cotton backing fabric of your choice

Sticky stabilizer

Sewing thread

Preface:

Compliment your patriotic table décor with this star appliqued table runner. A perfect addition to your table to celebrate your patriotism.

Step 1:

Gather all materials and review instructions before beginning. Print out star template for review.

Step 2:

Cutting out the pieces:
(All measurements include ¼” seam allowance)

From red fabric cut 5 strips 2 ½” x 24 ½”
From white fabric cut 4 strips 2 ½” x 24 ½”
From blue fabric cut 2 rectangular pieces 6 ½” x 18 ½”

Step 3:

To Applique Stars:

You will be appliqueing 3 stars to each piece of cut blue fabric. Load design into the machine.

Step 4:

Hoop sticky stabilizer. (I stitched my center star first.) Find the center of your cut blue fabric by folding in half and then fold in half lengthwise to show creased crosshair. Center fabric onto your sticky stabilizer.

Step 5:

Attach hoop to machine. The design will stitch out the dieline (outline) of the star. Cut an oversized piece of white fabric to cover the star outline.( This is your applique fabric) Spray lightly with adhesive spray and finger press down.
The next stitch will be a tack down stitch as this will bind the white fabric in place. Once that is completed remove hoop from machine and carefully cut excess of white fabric around the star. Careful not to cut stitches. Reattach hoop to machine.

Step 6:

Next final stitch will be the satin stitch to finish a border around the star.

Step 7:

For placement of the 2nd star mark your center 4” in from side edge and repeat the applique instructions. Do the same for your 3rd star.

Step 8:

Repeat the steps for the remainder of stars on your other cut blue end piece.
Set both applique end pieces aside as we will now construct the stripes.

Step 9:

Using ¼” seam allowance stitch your cut red and white strips together alternating and finishing with the red strip. Press seams to the “dark side”.

Step 10:

Sew appliqued star pieces to each end of sewn strips and press.

Step 11:

Sew batting to the wrong side of the table runner and stitch all sides using ¼” seam allowance. Trim excess batting

Step 12:

Using your fabric backing of choice with right sides together stitch all sides using ½” seam allowance. Leave a 6” opening for turning. Trim excess backing.
