Materials

  • 1 x 12” zipper
  • 2 thread colors
  • Tearaway stabilizer
  • 4 x 4” hoop

  • Designs used in this project

Final Product: What You Will Create

    Preface:
I have used cotton voile for my washbag as it is light enough to allow the lingerie to be washed well and has more stability than a mesh.

    Step 1:
Gather the materials and read through the instructions before beginning. Have a copy of the color sequence on hand to refer to.

    Step 2:
Fold the 13x26” rectangle piece of fabric in half lengthwise. Mark the center of the front panel.

    Step 3:
Hoop the stabilizer and fabric together, ensuring the center point is aligned in your hoop. Attach the hoop to your machine and stitch out the design. Unhoop the design and press.

    Step 4:
Finish both short edges of the fabric with a serger or your chosen method. With your embroidered panel right side up, along the top edge of the rectangle lay your zipper teeth down and pin across the top to secure it to the fabric then stitch it down. Fold your panel in half, with right sides together and pin the zipper down to the other side of the panel and stitch in place.

    Step 5:
Leaving your panel folded with right sides together, pin the side seams together and stitch. Make sure you sew all the way to the top to close the ends of each zipper. You will want to unzip the zipper a little bit so you can turn the bag through to the right side. Finish off the side seams with your serger

    Step 6:
Take your wash bag with you whilst travelling to keep your dirty laundry separate then just toss the bag into the washing machine and your delicate lingerie will be protected in the wash.
