Final Product: What You Will Create

    Preface:
It’s always fun to make special things to celebrate holidays. Who doesn’t have a little bit of “Irish” in them on March 17th? Enjoy the day with family and friends and make green drinks served on embroidered coasters to truly add a special touch for the day.

    Step 1:
Read through the instructions before beginning. One coaster will be shown, but purchase the amount of fabric needed for all the coasters you will be stitching. Print a template of the design. Choose thread colors as stated in the design or choose different colors of green as was done for the project. A bright green, Kelly green, and olive was chosen in place of the colors shown in the design. Be sure to test the design with the chosen thread colors to be sure you like the final embroidery design.

    Step 2:
Hoop the stabilizer and fabric. Load the design “Luck O’ Irish” on the machine and stitch the design following the color sequence and trimming jump threads as you go if your machine doesn’t have automatic trimmers. This design takes approximately 45 minutes to stitch.

    Step 3:
After the design has finished stitching, remove the fabric from the hoop and remove the excess stabilizer; press the fabric with a low heat from the wrong side of the fabric.

    Step 4:
Trim the fabric all the way around leaving 1 1/2” beyond the outer most edges of the embroidery.

    Step 5:
Use tweezers to pull out the yarns of the fabric to within ½” of the embroidery design. Along each edge, trim the fringe to ½” from the solid edge of the fabric.

    Step 6:
Congratulations on creating a simple coaster.

    Step 7:
Be sure to include the children in the party by serving a child-friendly drink like was done here by placing one drop of green food coloring in the glass and then filling it with diet or regular 7-up. For adults, look up recipes on the internet for “green drinks” such as a green apple mojito or green tinted Bailey’s.
