This project can be made in an afternoon. The steps are simple and it would be a welcome gift for most any occasion. Adjust the dimensions of the fabric if using a different size box than the one shown.
Step 1:
Gather the materials and read through the instructions before beginning. A spray adhesive may be used for this project, but rubber cement was used and worked well to adhere the fabric to the box.

Step 2:
To make efficient use of space in the hoop, small items like this can be “ganged up” in the hoop. In software, open the design “Heart Charm”. This is a FSL design. Select the hoop size and then insert three more heart charms, spacing them apart to fill the hoop. Change the color of each charm to the desired thread color. Save the design and export it for stitching. If you don’t have software, this can be done at the machine as well.

Step 3:
Hoop two pieces of water soluble stabilizer. Load the design on the machine. If software wasn’t used, gang up as many as possible (or needed) in the hoop.

Step 4:
Stitch the designs following the color sequence.

Step 5:
After the designs finish stitching, remove the designs from the hoop and cut them apart.

Step 6:
Follow the manufacturer’s directions for rinsing the stabilizer from the fabric. Pat the designs dry and lay them flat to dry.

Step 7:
While the embroidery designs dry, work on covering the box. Measure the width of each side of the box and the height.

Step 8:
Press the fabric well with spray starch. Cut the fabric the length and depth needed plus seam allowances to overlap and press under. For the project, the fabric piece was cut 6” x 23”.

Step 9:
Measure and mark the amount to turn under along the long edges; press under along the drawn line on each side.

Step 10:
Spread a small amount of rubber cement on the seam allowance and press the seam allowance in place. Repeat for the other side.

Step 11:
Lightly spread (or spray) the glue on the side of the box. Position the fabric to the top and bottom of the box as shown.

Step 12:
Use paperclips to hold the fabric in place to dry. Work around the box and spread glue on the next side and position the fabric.

Step 13:
At the start point, overlap the fabric and cut the excess. Fold under the end and glue in place.

Step 14:
Cut four pieces of ribbon 12” long. Tie the ribbon around the neck of the bottle and slide a charm onto one tail of the ribbon.

Step 15:
Tie a box or knot to secure the FSL Heart Charm to the top of the bottle.

Step 16:
After the glue has dried, remove the paper clips. Create a box with the ribbon and affix it to the handle of the box.

Step 17:
Place the bottles in the box slots. The “Wine Gift Pak” is ready for a special recipient.
