Final Product: What You Will Create

Preface:

It is easy to see that each of these heads will come out a different shape though all of the designs are digitized in the round. The different shapes are generated by how the fleece squares are placed in the hoop; how much embroidery stabilizes the stretch of the fleece and in how much you stuff each one. I definitely feel that the various shapes give even more character to each one, so have fun making these up without worrying that each should be perfectly round. Each ornament only takes 15 to 20 minutes from start to finish depending on how much embroidery is in the face.

Step 1:

Cut:
20 4 1/2” squares of white fleece
10 pieces of poly-mesh stabilizer
10 7” sections of blue ribbon

Step 2:

Hoop poly-mesh stabilizer in your 4” x 4” embroidery hoop; load one of the designs in your embroidery machine and stitch the first CS (color stop) in white for a placement lines.

Step 3:

Place a square of fleece over the outlines so that at least ¼” of fleece extends beyond the placement line in all directions; run CS 2 in white to tack down the fleece.

Step 4:

Follow the color chart for the face you are making through the next to last CS to complete the embroidery of the face.

Step 5:

Fold the ribbon in half, position over the center top of the snowman face and tape in place; be sure to position the tape above the face outline.

Step 6:

Lay a second piece of fleece over the ribbon and face; run the final CS in white to stitch the back to the front.

Step 7:

Remove the project from the hoop; remove the tape; cut all around the circle with a ¼” seam allowance.

Step 8:

Turn the snowman ornament right side out through the opening.

Step 9:

Stuff the ornament through the opening using small amounts of stuffing at a time.

Step 10:

Fold in the opening seam allowance and whip stitch the opening shut.

Step 11:

Congratulations you have already finished your 1st Snowman Softie Ornament.

Step 12:

Now stitch up the rest following the same steps for each one.
