Materials

10” x 13” picture frame with mat

12” x 15” piece of travel themed fabric to cover the mat

White cotton fabric (cut the fabric large enough to fit the hoop and at least 10-“ x 13” to fit within the frame)

Embroidery thread

Cutaway stabilizer

Ribbon to coordinate with fabric and embroidery thread (54” total: 2-12” and 2-15”)

Embroidery thread (coordinate with the design sequence and fabric)

Rubber cement

Final Product: What You Will Create

Preface:

The mat of the picture frame is covered with travel themed fabric to showcase the “Give a Girl” embroidery design perfect for the office of a young executive.

Step 1:

Gather the materials and read through the instructions before beginning. Print a paper template of the embroidery design.

Step 2:

Open up the back of the frame. Place the mat and frame over the paper template, centering it, to be sure it fits (the printer ran out of ink that is why there is only part of the template design in view). Press the white fabric well.

Step 3:

Cut the white fabric larger than needed; it will be cut down to fit the frame after the embroidery is completed. Hoop the white fabric with a piece of cutaway stabilizer, centering the fabric in the hoop. Load the design “Give a Girl” in the machine. Stitch the design following the color sequence.

Step 4:

While the design stitches, the frame may be prepared. Remove the mat from the picture frame. Press the travel fabric. Center the mat, right side over the back of the travel fabric.

Step 5:

Cut the fabric to fit the mat leaving enough fabric around all the edges to wrap and glue to the back side of the mat. Clip the fabric to the inside corners to create a sharp edge. Use small amounts of the rubber cement spread thinly on the back of the mat. Hold the fabric in place with small paper clips until dry. Remove the embroidered fabric from the hoop but don’t remove the stabilizer or cut the fabric to size yet. Place the ribbons in place along the inner edges of the fabric covered as shown. Glue in place and secure with pins until dry.

Step 6:

Be sure the embroidery is centered within the mat. Trace around the outer edge on the embroidered fabric. Cut the fabric ¼” inside the line. Place the fabric covered mat inside the frame, right side down.

Step 7:

Place the trimmed embroidered fabric over the mat, right side down. Place the back on the frame and secure in place.

Step 8:

“Give a Girl” this frame to place in her office or bedroom reminding her that with “The Right Shoes She Can Conquer The World!”
