Preface:

This quick project makes a chef’s apron for the grilling enthusiast. The apron is a purchased chef’s apron, hooped with medium weight tear away stabilizer and stitched with colorful polyester thread. Follow the colors as they are listed in the design, or choose your own.

Step 1:

Read through all the instructions before beginning. Gather the supplies needed and print a paper copy of the design to aid in hooping placement.

Step 2:

Find the center of the apron by folding in half lengthwise and lightly pressing in a crease.

Step 3:

Hoop the stabilizer and the apron, aligning the center crease on the apron with the vertical center markings on your hoop.

Step 4:

If you wish to leave the care label on the apron, fold it up above the top hem of the apron, outside of the hoop, to avoid stitching over it. Pin the template to the apron.

Step 5:

Secure the apron ties across the body of the apron and pin in the center. Roll up the bottom of the apron, encasing the ties, and secure with clips. This will help keep the ties and bottom of the apron out of the stitching area as you stitch the design.

Step 6:

As you place the hoop on your machine, be sure to bring the neck strap under the embroidery foot, toward the back of the machine, away from the stitching area.

Step 7:

Confirm the center placement of the paper template with the center placement as indicated on the screen.

Step 8:

Stitch out the design, following the color sequence. Note: Remember to remove the paper template prior to stitching. Monitor the location of the neck strap and other portions of the apron as the design stitches out to ensure they stay out of the stitching area.

Step 9:

Remove the design from the machine. If your machine does not cut the jump stitches, and you have not cut them as you stitched out the design, carefully trim the jump threads before removing the design from the hoop.

Step 10:

Carefully remove the stabilizer from the back of the apron, following manufacturer's instructions.

Step 11:

This easy project is done and the chef is ready to prepare and enjoy some delicious food, fresh off the grill!
