Not every rose is just a rose (By SuzyQ on 9/26/2015)
I am very sorry to say that this project did not turn out as described! I thought this would be a great gift for an aunt who teaches music. She loves roses and this looked like an elegant expression of appreciation. HOWEVER, once I was able to finally get a version to work on my sewing machine (granted I use a Mac and have a Janome MC 9900) I shouldn't have to spend hours just trying to reconvert threads from computer to machine. This really turned out to be more of a hassle than a fun time. Once I even got to the point of embroidering, I thought, well the hard part is over. Think again, it was not! The stitching of the rose was very sparse in many areas (even though I followed directions and used appropriate thread weight), there were other areas that were outlined but not filled in making it look like the machine 'colored outside the lines', and the leaves and center of rose looked more of a one colored mass of messy color (green and red, respectively) than well defined depth and shadow. I'm still intending
