The best things come in small packages. As small as this little wrist pin cushion is with its tiny embroidery, it is a most useful sewing accessory to have. It is also a great item for gifts and for craft fairs.
As simple as this project is, it is a great compliment to our other sewing accessories projects. It is most useful and makes a great gift for yourself and your sewing friends. The ruffled elastic is extra soft and comfortable to wear on your wrist.
Step 1:

Step 6:
Place the elastic over the felt, scotch tape both ends. Fold the excess elastic to the top of the pin cushion and tape down with embroidery tape. The reason two types of tape are used is that the scotch tape is easy to sew through; doesn’t gum up your needle; is easy to remove. The embroidery tape used to hold down the excess elastic is stronger.

Step 7:
Run color stop #10 which will stitch down the bottom end of the elastic and is a placement line for the first section of the back of the pin cushion.
Step 8:
Tape one 2.5” square of felt aligning with the top with the outline just sewn, over the pin cushion front. Stitch color stop #11 which will stitch it in place.

Step 9:
Remove the embroidery tape from the top of the elastic – leaving the scotch tape in place. Tuck the excess elastic into the pocket just formed. Stitch color sequence #12 which is a placement line for the second section of the back and will stitch down the top end of the elastic.
