Final Product: What You Will Create

    Preface:

    Cut fabric:
Cut on the fold two 3”x 5” rectangles
    Cut two “5 x 5” squares

    Step 1:

Hoop tear away stabilizer in 5”x 7” hoop.

    Step 2:
Run color sequence 1 which is an outline for the zipper.

    Step 3:
Place your closed zipper between the outlines having the zipper face up with the zipper pull at the bottom of the hoop. Be sure both the zipper pull and the metal end of the zipper are placed outside of the sewn placement outlines. TAPE BOTH ENDS OF THE ZIPPER TO SECURE IT TO THE STABILIZER.

    Step 4:

Stitch the second stitch sequence which is a tack down for the zipper. Your machine will sew across the zipper at the required bottom length. The machine will stitch through the zipper just fine.

    Step 5:

Lay a 5” x 3” folded rectangle of fabric on the right side of the zipper. The folded edge of the fabric should be placed upon the middle of the zipper as a vertical guide. For a horizontal guide, make sure the fabric extends at least 1” beyond the stitching lines for the zipper at both the top and bottom. (Note: the fabric is folded so that the wrong sides are together.)

    Step 6:
Use scotch tape at the top, bottom and right side edge of the fabric to secure it to the stabilizer.

    Step 7:

Stitch the third color sequence which is a tack down stitch for this right side fabric.

    Step 8:

Place the second 5” x 3” folded rectangle of fabric so that the right side is along the edge of the zipper and the top and bottom ends are even with the first fabric placed.

    Step 9:

Place a piece of scotch tape where the two fabrics meet at the top end of the flash drive case.

    Step 10:
IMPORTANT: Slide the zipper pull ¾ of the way up towards the top of the flash drive case.

    Step 11:
Fold approximately 2” of ribbon in half to form the loop. Tape to the bottom edge of the flash drive case, the loop should be facing towards the center of the case. The bottom edges should extend just below the stitched edges of the case.

    Step 12:
Place two 5” x 5” squares of fabric wrong sides together. Place over the fabric in the hoop. Secure all edges with scotch tape.

    Step 13:
Run the last stitch sequence which is the outside seam and final seam overcasting.

    Step 14:
Remove the tear away backing from the outside edges and from the inner back of the flash drive case.

    Step 15:

Work the zipper pull open and turn the back side of the case through the zippered opening. Work all corners with your fingers until they are smooth. Close the zipper and press the case with a steam iron.

    Step 16:

Insert a key ring or lanyard clip through the ribbon loop so the flash drive case can be attached your purse or laptop case.

    Step 17:
Make them up in many fabrics for yourself and friends.
