Materials
  • Windmill Designs “Great Friends & Wine” embroidery design
  • White cotton fabric to fit embroidery hoop
  • Tearaway stabilizer to fit embroidery hoop
  • 4” x 6” wooden picture frame
  • 1-bag cork stoppers
  • Glue gun and glue sticks
  • Editing software to resize the embroidery design

  • Designs used in this project

    Preface:
The frame used for this project is 4” x 6”. Size the embroidery design, if needed, for the frame you have chosen to embellish.

    Step 1:
Print the information for the embroidery design at actual size to be able to test the design for the frame size chosen. Gather the supplies needed, and read through all the instructions before beginning the project.

    Step 2:
Remove the back and glass from the frame. Using the hot glue gun, glue the corks around the frame as shown. Set the decorated frame aside and allow the glue to dry.

    Step 3:
Measure the inside of the frame to resize the design if needed.

    Step 4:
For this frame, the design needed to be resized. The text was select and the color changed to be able to resize it. The text was resized to 4” wide and .60” high.

    Step 5:
The scrolls were selected and resized to fit within the frame, then aligned and centered above and below the text. The width of the scroll designs was maintained, but the height was decreased so everything would fit within the frame. The final design size was 4.5” wide and 2.56 high.

    Step 6:
Hoop the white cotton fabric with the tearaway stabilizer. Embroider the design following the color sequence.

    Step 7:
Use the paper in the frame to center the embroidery design for the frame. Fold the paper into quarters, and then center it over the embroidery design.

    Step 8:
Trace around the paper. This will be the cutting line to cut out the design to fit the frame.

    Step 9:
Cut out the design along the pencil line.

    Step 10:
Place the glass in the frame, then the embroidery face down on top of the glass. Be sure the embroidery is placed in the proper direction if the corks that have been glued around the frame have writing on them.

    Step 11:
Place the back of the frame in place and secure.

    Step 12:
The frame is ready to keep or to give as a gift.
