    Step 1:
Hoop applique fabric and stitch the outline (BM001) twice. (Or if you are using contrasting fabric, stitch the outline on the fabric for the back of the bookmark, and the design on the fabric for the front of the bookmark.)

    Step 2:
If using the same fabric for front and back, do not remove from hoop. Embroider the bookmark design in the second outline. All designs are centered so the placement will be perfect.

    Step 3:
When the design embroidery is completed, remove fabric from the hoop. Cut out both pieces following the stitched outline.

    Step 4:
With wrong sides up, place both pieces on a protected surface and spray liberally with spray adhesive.

    Step 5:
Hoop a piece of tear-away backing, place on the embroidery machine, and once again, embroider the outline...just one this time. Remove the hoop from the machine, but do not remove the backing from the hoop.

    Step 6:
With the backing still in the hoop and using the outline as a guide, place the back of the bookmark on the bottom side of the backing. Finger press firmly in place. Repeat for the front of the bookmark on the top side.

    Step 7:
Replace the hoop on the machine. Embroider the border (BM002).

    Step 8:
Remove the hoop from the machine. Gently tear the finished bookmark away from the tear-away backing. Both sides are completely finished with no unsightly bobbin thread showing.
