Description

Create a stylish and personalized draw string pouch for your accessories with accent bottom corners.

Materials
  • Cotton fabric outer and lining ( fabric remnants or a fat quarter altogether)
  • Embroidery thread ( 3 colors~ refer to design thread color chart
  • Cut Away Stabilizer
  • Temporary Adhesive Spray (505)
  • Sewing thread
  • ¼’ width fabric ribbon ( for drawstring)
  • Sewing thread
  • Safety pin
  • Seam ripper

    Final Product: What You Will Create


    Step 1:

    Gather all supplies and review instructions before beginning. Print out paper template of embroidery design.

    Step 2:

    Cut outer fabric and lining. Two each 8” x 10. And Cut two 4” x 4” from lining fabric then cut in half diagonally. (Picture shows only two triangles should be four.)

    Step 3:

    Load embroidery design file into machine.

    Step 4:

    Center place paper embroidery design template onto cut outer fabric 4.5” up from bottom edge and 4” in from side edge to center of design. Mark axis points.

    Step 5:

    Hoop stabilizer. Lightly spray temporary adhesive spray. Center place matching axis points to hoop axis markings. Finger press and smooth to secure onto stabilizer. Attach hoop to machine. Confirm center needle placement. Begin embroidering stitch out process.

    Step 6:

    Embroidering stitch out complete. Detach hoop. Cut and trim all jump stitches and loose thread ends. Cut away stabilizer approx. ½” away from design. Iron press.

    Step 7:

    Turn down top edge ¼” of each triangle as pictured. Iron press.

    Step 8:

    Position each triangle onto each bottom corner of outer pouch pieces. Right side up. Topstitch in place.

    Step 9:

    Outer pouch

     Right sides together. Trim tips from each side and bottom corner accents. Stitch sides and bottom of outer pouch pieces. Using ½” seam allowance. Place lining pieces right sides together stitch sides and bottom using ½” seam allowance. Leave a 2” opening at bottom for turning.

    Step 10:

    Turn lining right side out. Slip into outer pouch right sides together. Matching up top edges and side seams. Pin in place. Stitch in place ½” seam allowance from top edge. Pull outer pouch through opening in lining. Push out corners. Iron press. Machine or hand stitch opening closed.

    Step 11:

    Push lining down into outer pouch. Iron press. Top stitch top edge.

    Step 12:

    From top edge measure down 1.5” draw a line using your fabric air erase pen on both front and back of pouch. Draw a second line ½” down from first drawn line. Stitch all around on top of lines drawn. This will create a casing/channel.

    Step 13:

    Carefully using your seam ripper open up only the top pouch fabric side seam between the two stitched lines.

    Step 14:

    Cut two 20” strands of ribbon. Attach safety pin to one end of a strand and feed though opening of casing on one side seam all around pouch coming out the same opening. Even the ends of the ribbon and tie in a knot. Repeat this process on the opposite side seam.

    Step 15:

    Cinch up your pouch and you are done!!!! Way to go! Make as many or as few as you like in different sizes using the same technique. Look on the ED website for other designs to personalize.
