Eight 5.5”X5.5” pieces of a light blender cotton fabric

Four 5.5”x5.5” pieces SF 101 fusible shape interfacing

Four 5.5"x5.5" pieces low nap batting

Tear away Stabilizer

Final Product: What You Will Create

Preface:

Simple wine coasters with different sayings. Need some 'Liquid Therapy?' Is it 'Time to Wine Down?' Are you 'Working Nine to Wine'? Go green, 'Save Water, Drink Wine!'

Step 1:

Gather & prepare the materials needed for the project. Read the directions before you begin the project. Iron and lightly starch the fabric.

Step 2:

An essential tool for embroidery position and placement is a design template. A design template is a printout of the actual size of the design. It has the center of the design identified, as well as the horizontal and vertical axis lines. An embroidery program can print a template of any design. (Embrilliance Essentials embroidery software program was used to print the design template).

Print the design template.

Step 3:

Follow package directions to bond the SF101 to the wrong side of one piece of the fabric.

Step 4:

Center the design template on the piece of the fabric with the SF101 on the back of it.

Step 5:

The size of the design is 3.5"x4.0" with a stitch count of 10,846. Hoop one piece of light weight (2.0) tear away stabilizer.

Mark the center on the stabilizer. Match the center of the design template with the center point on the stabilizer. Match the horizontal and vertical points on the hoop and the design template.

Use a light mist of 505 Temporary Adhesive spray on the stabilizer. Press the fabric onto the stabilizer. Use wonder pins to secure the fabric on the stabilizer.

Step 6:

Load the design on the machine. A 75/11 size embroidery needle is suggested for this project. Attach the hoop to the machine. Check the stitching field area to make sure there is nothing in the way. Use the color guide to stitch the design.

Step 7:

Remove the hoop from the machine. Gently tear away the excess stabilizer.

Trim excess threads if needed. Square fabric pieces if needed.

Step 8:

Place the batting piece on the back of one of the fabric pieces. Then, pin the three pieces together. The fabric pieces will have right sides together. Stitch an 1/2" seam around all sides. Leave a 2.5" opening on one side for turning.

Step 9:

Clip the corner tips to remove bulk fabric. Do not clip your stitches.

Step 10:

Use a turning tool to turn the wine coaster.

Step 11:

Use fabric glue or pins to close the opening in the side seam.

Step 12:

Top stitch a 1/4" seam around the outer edges of the coaster.
Repeat these steps to make more coasters.

Step 13:

You have finished a wine coaster. Congrats!
