Mandala Coasters Embroidery Project

Gather all your materials and read through the instructions before you begin. Have a copy of the color sequence on hand for the embroidery stitch out. Note in the preface that I have enlarged the design to 120%

Mark the center of your plain cotton square to indicate the center of the embroidery design. Hoop the stabilizer and plain cotton ensuring it is centered to the mark. Stitch out the design

Section the big square into 4 smaller squares which will become the coasters. You then need to cut through the embroidery design. You will have 4 smaller squares

Cut your fleece into 4 ¼” x 4 ¼” squares. The lay the embroidered square onto the printed cotton and cut the printed cotton ¾” wider on the 2 plain sides of the embroidered square. Your printed cotton squares will end up 5” square.

With the printed cotton right side up, lay the embroidered square ontop ensuring the embroidery is in the top right corner with raw edges matching. Then place the fleece on the back of the embroidered square. Clip in place, then stitch with a ¼” seam along only the 2 sides to join the fleece, embroidered square and printed cotton together. Trim the corner.

Turn the design right side out and press. Double turn the excess printed cotton on the 2 remaining sides over 10mm then 10mm again and clip in place. Stitch as close to the edge as possible. Repeat steps 5 & 6 for the remaining 3 coasters.
