Final Product: What You Will Create

    Preface:
The cute print vinyl was purchased on Amazon. You can choose to wind a bobbin with matching thread for your final outline or not.

    Step 1:

Load a thread in your machine that will coordinate with the vinyl. Tautly hoop your cut-away stabilizer and run the 1st color stop (CS) as a placement line.

    Step 2:

Spray adhesive on the back of a 2 ½” x 4 ½” rectangle of marine vinyl and align within the placement lines. Run CS 2 to outline the coin slot. If stitching on printed vinyl skip to Step 4.

    Step 3:
Follow the color chart to embroidery the bee or the butterfly through the next to last color stop.

    Step 4:

Remove the hoop from the machine. Lie the hoop on a flat surface. Insert a seam ripper inside the coin slot through the vinyl and stabilizer to create a hole so you can insert scissors.

    Step 5:

Use small straight embroidery scissors to cut across the rest of the coin slot.

    Step 6:

Turn the hoop face down. Spray adhesive on the remaining vinyl rectangle and align with the placement line on the back of the hoop.

    Step 7:

Return the hoop to the machine to run the final placement line. The back of the work is neater if you bring the bobbin thread to the top of the work first. Do this by threading the top thread through the presser foot. While holding onto this thread tail push the needle down button twice. This will bring the bobbin thread to the top of the work. You may need a pair of tweezers to pull the bobbin thread out to the length of the top thread. Hold on to both threads and run a few stitches. Stop the machine and trim off the thread tails. Complete stitching the outline of the design.

    Step 8:
Trim around the quarter keeper about 1/8” from the final seam. Fold the tab in half. Push the awl through both layers of the tab at the same time about 3/8” from the base of the tab. You will probably need to push the awl through the back of the tab again to get a large enough hole to place the Kam Snap, but it should leave a mark to let you know where to reinsert the awl.
Following the manufacturer’s instructions insert the Kam Snap covers into the right side of the tab. It does not matter which end of the tab receives the male or female snaps.

    Step 9:
Insert the tab though the keyring and snap shut. Insert a quarter in the slot.

    Step 10:
Congratulations your first ITH Quarter Keeper is complete. Make them by the dozens to give away as gifts or to sell at your craft fairs in towns that have an Aldi store.
